In the fall 2005, Julie and her best friend Kim finished their first day of college and were walking towards the parking lot to leave campus. Kim saw her cousin and stopped to say hi. Her cousin was in his white Honda Accord with his group of girlfriends. Kim quickly introduced her cousin Stephen to Julie. That was the very first time they met. It was definitely not love at first sight. Julie was not into gangster looking guys and Stephen was in a relationship at that time. Neither of them had any interest nor recalled that moment that lasted 10 second. Little did they know, they would eventually fall in love.
A few months later, Stephen broke up with his girlfriend. He started coming out more to hang out with his cousins (Kim and Ana) and of course Julie would be there too. They all became a close group of friends and was referred to as the "Party People". Julie and Stephen began to know each other better by hanging out as a group and talking on AIM. They would chat for hours until 2am. They both enjoyed having conversations about life, family, school, and more. The thought that this could lead to something more did cross their minds at one point or another but they never reacted to it nor confessed their feelings. They didn't want to ruin their friendship or make things awkward if it didn't work out. They continued to be just friends.
In the summer of 2008, Julie was chatting to her friend Justin on AIM. She was telling him about her feelings for Stephen. By accident, Julie sent those messages to Stephen instead. OMG! #Fail. She was so nervous and afraid that their friendship wouldn't be the same anymore. After that incident, they both acted as if nothing ever happened. One night, Julie was bored at home so Stephen suggested going out. He picked her up at her house at 12am and they headed towards Corona Del Mar beach. That night Stephen revealed his feeling for Julie and they both agreed give it a chance. Julie came home at 7am and could not stop smiling. She was truly happy.
